The daughter of one of our employees is currently volunteering at a primary school in Abetifi, Ghana. Every day, she reports on how badly the school, and especially the children, lack basic learning and teaching materials.
Things we take for granted are only partially available, or not at all, there. Notebooks, pens, books, and other teaching materials are in extremely short supply. Despite all this, our colleague’s daughter tells of children who are incredibly motivated and eager to learn.
Inspired by these impressions and experiences, our colleague launched a personal fundraising campaign with the goal of supporting the school and its children.
The first supplies have already been purchased. These include pencil sharpeners with a crank. These are urgently needed, as the previous method of sharpening pencils with a razor blade poses a high risk of injury.
Additional purchases will be made directly on site, ensuring that exactly what is needed is bought. At the end of September, our employee will be there in person to handle the shopping and personally deliver the items. This ensures that the support reaches exactly where it’s needed.
VEINLAND is also supporting the initiative and donating €500 to the project.
Anyone who would also like to support this campaign or raise awareness about it is welcome to share the appeal or participate in it.
We’re delighted to be able to support this personal commitment from our team and are looking forward to hearing about the experiences our colleague will bring back from Abetifi.
